It reminded me that letting these fears/worries/anxieties run parts of my life is not only unhealthy psychologically, but it’s not how God wants me to live. That sounds so simple, but I am not sure it sunk in for me till this afternoon.

In the past I have thought my fears are justified, I mean, isn’t it our duty as wives/mothers/daughters/sisters to worry and care for our loved ones, worry and fret about the future, etc., and let others be carefree and worry-less? It seems to me too often I carried this burden of fear and worry because I thought I should. I have known for a long time this is damaging to my self-esteem and mental outlook, but never really thought about how it conflicts with God’s directives. It occurs to me that this very fear I harbor might be, if fact, separating me from God.

I found one website that claimed the Bible tells us to “Fear Not” 63 times between the Old and New Testament. I did not perform a recount, but am including just a few that spoke to me:

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of sound mind." 2 Timothy 1:7
(This verse especially resonates with me—if God did not give us the spirit of fear, then truly we should try to cast it aside given the logical conclusion that fear comes from God’s opposite.)

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27

“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” Isaiah 41:10RBMnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4057235051586871190.post-48309713489468487212010-03-08T21:48:20.104-06:002010-03-08T21:48:20.104-06:00I'm totally a barefoot girl! I take them off ...I'm totally a barefoot girl! I take them off at other people houses and then only think later that maybe it might have been rude. I take them off as soon as I get home and as soon as the weather gets better I wear the least shoe necessary to do the job. Go barefoot!
Matt on the other hand it often still wearing his shoes at midnight.aimee Guesthttp://www.abundantlifeinthemaking.comnoreply@blogger.com
